Like much of the art of those times, the Chapel of Sant Joan d'Horta shows a subtle tendency towards Fauvism.
The freedom of Miró's interpretation of the landscape and his use of more vivid colours than those found in nature are reminiscent of Fauvism. But other aspects, like his rough and often capricious brushwork and some of the more muted shades of his pallet, distance him from that French school.
